Sprout Swap

Our 5th Semi-Annual Sprout Swap is February 18-20, 2011! Registration is now closed, but please come and shop!

We hold a Sprout Swap twice a year, one weekend in February and one weekend in August. This is a chance to sell some of your gently used cloth diapers and baby carriers or scoop up a great deal on the next size up for your little one.

What is a Swap??

Swap is really not the right word for what we do here at Sprout Soup. Consignment sale is probably a better term, but Sprout Swap sounds better. ;) Here’s how it works.

First of all, EVERYONE is welcome to come and shop during the swap days. You don’t need to register to shop and you don’t need to bring anything! Just come on in and pick up some great deals.

If you want to sell some of your child’s outgrown diapers, gently used carriers or breastfeeding items, we’d love to help you! After all there isn’t a swap without the great items all of you bring in! We have tried to make the registration and entry process as simple as possible, but if you have questions or need help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How does it work?

Everyone who is selling items in the swap needs to first register themselves. We keep your information confidential and only use it to track your items and contact you once the sale is over. We use your email address as a unique identifier to make sure that your items get credited to you, so please make sure to use the same email address you registered yourself with when entering your items for sale.

Each item or group of items you wish to sell must also be registered. More information on how to group or get your items ready for sale is available on our Preparing for the Swap post. We also have compiled lists of average selling prices for items and tips on how to best display and package your items. Once again, if you have any questions please feel free to ask us!

Once you have everything sorted and registered, just drop them off to Sprout Soup, anytime during our business hours. We ask that you include a note with your name and email address inside the bag or box you package the items in. While we’re pretty good at identifying items and making sure they go to the right person, your help in keeping us organized is much appreciated! Now your work is done and you can sit back and relax. But of course don’t forget to come in and shop for yourself during the swap!

Sprout Soup tags and sorts all the items entered in the swap. We track each item with codes so none of your identifying information is available at the sale. Each sale is recorded and once the swap is finished we tally up. Please give us about two weeks to do this and sort your unsold items back into packages for you to pick up. We do our best to get it done as quickly as possible, but we want to make sure everything is correct! We also sometimes continue to sell your items through the next week if we have customers looking for certain things, so allowing us time to do this results in higher sales numbers for you!

When we are finally ready with your sales tally we will contact you by phone. Each selling participant in the swap is given multiple options for their sales credits. We offer you 95% of your sales in store credit, 80% in cash or a combination of both. If you choose a combination, your credit must be used first and we can return the rest to you in the form of a check.

Why You Should Participate

The Swap is a much anticipated and exciting event! It draws a large crowd of people and we have found that many items re-sell very well, often at a higher price than you might receive through other outlets. As we continue to offer and host the swap we have gained a lot of experience that helps us best market your items to the public.

We’re looking forward to working with you and making each Swap better than the last!
