Stephanie, It's important when closing the Goodbyn to do so in the right order. It can be a little complicated for young children, and Goodbyn does recommend that this version of their lunchbox be used for kids age 5 and older. (I hear there is a version for younger kids in development!)

To close the Goodbyn, first press down on the bottom center, securing the vertical compartments before moving on to the compartments that are horizontal. For kids, it's easiest if the Goodbyn is on a flat surface that they can lean over and get their weight behind closing it. Once the center compartments are sealed, then move on to sealing the edges. You may be able to work with your daughter on closing, but even if she doesn't get it completely closed, encourage her to press around all the outsides so that any leftover lunch stays inside the box, even if it doesn't stay in it's individual compartment. ;)

Opening is usually easy for kids, once place the Goodbyn on a flat surface and peel back the lid, starting from the top. The two little "ears" make great grabbing points for small hands, and you can show her how to hold the handle down with the other hand to aid opening the box.

I just bought our Goodbyn from a local shop. I love the design, and the dishwasher safeness, but my daughter is having a hard time opening and close it.
In fact, it's a little tricky for me to do, as well. I'm hoping we are just "new" users and maybe we'll break-in our new green find over the next week.
If not, I may have to go back to the old icky lunchbox on the principal that she is six and should be able to open and close her own lunch.

Anyway. The photos are cute. The review is good. I wanted to share my comments on the same product. Maybe you can give me a few pointers to make the switch a little easier.
